Marion County DD sponsors numerous teams and athletes that participate in a very successful Special Olympics program.

The Marion County Special Olympics Hawks have won 15 state basketball championships and three unified softball championships.

The Hawks participate in basketball, bocci ball, track and field, and unified golf.

In order to participate in Special Olympics, athletes must be at least 8 years of age and have an intellectual disability, cognitive delay, or learning disability requiring special instruction that as been identified by an agency or a qualified professional.
